Testimony (LIFE): Idiot, Cowards or Retards ??

When all odds seem to be against you, you’ll just have to complain and eventually grief. Because you will get nothing from the complain despite having countless reasons for supports! This is Malaysia. This is where you can expect incompetent statement or actions shown by (...................). You can expect that your chances of being successful is blocked at all times. Ais Kacang Puppy Love suffered the same tragedy as Nasi lemak 2.0.

Ignorant Statement on Ais Kacang Puppy Love

Both films are denied for 20% tax rebate. Ais Kacang Puppy Love collected more than RM5 million at the box office. Just because the medium of language is Mandarin, it is not entitled as a Malaysian made movie. This successful film even achieved moderate success in Taiwan and Hong Kong. I just cannot understand the reason and logic behind “70% of the dialogue in Bahasa Malaysia = Malaysian made movie”. This is must be ultimate way for the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture to promote Bahasa Malaysia itself, not Malaysia !

Here we go again. Another utterly ridiculous statement

Yeah, Namewee has caused controversies in race issues. According to FINAS Nasi Lemak 2.0 that did not qualify for mandatory screening status.   What !!???!!

Rebuttals:

Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (the minister in the Prime Minister's Department) has given us his endorsement, saying Nasi Lemak 2.0 is a 1Malaysia film.”

FINAS: Producer (Namewee) had sparked a controversy before.

Rebuttal:

Does this has nothing with the so called mandatory screening status thingy ??!!!?? That is just the opinion from u guys. Such a low classed retard statement. If you guys wanna talk about black and white. Lets just see what the rules state lah !!!

Moreover, Namewee is just a actor and script writer. The producer is Fred Chong !

I should probably rekindle my aspiration in drawing. It's been a long time since i shade my drawing. Usually i just draw without adding colour. Completed in my hometown. It took me days because i completed parts by parts.

Testimony (ENTERTAINMENT + LIFE): The Shawshank Redemption

The Shawshank redemption was one the awe inspiring movie I have watched. It is this classical movie that has cognitive contents to bring out a meaningful message to give viewers much food for thought. This movie provides a whole new perspective towards what things may appear to be true.

The main character believes that all it takes you to be a crook is to be in a prison. Everyone have to agree with that.  He said “The funny thing is, on the outside, I was an honest man, straight as an arrow. I had to come to prison to be a crook.” As an innocent man, Andy was sentenced for jail for murder. All proof is against him despite being a clean person. Basically, life in prison was gruesome and hard. Andy was bullied for the first 2 years and eventually being accepted by some of the gang and the prison’s warden. He bonded with another friend named Red. The warden was a devoted, pious Christian and well versed in Bible. He could remember every sentence in the Bible with exact precision of page and line which the verse was written. Well, of course a warden of a prison must be a justice man and a loyal servant of God. This is what everyone would see. However, we should never judge a person by his/her position, behind his smile, the warden was one of the foulest mouthed characters in the movie. He is also a greedy and fake person. With Andy’s experience in the bank, the warden exploited his skills to launder money under his scheme and use prison labor for public works to get illegal payoff. The guards in the prison are also indifferent from the warden too.

Andy’s final hope of proving himself innocent was dashed off when a prisoner who claimed that he knew the truth Andy’s case was killed by the warden. The despicable warden wanted to continue with his money laundering and kept Andy’s mouth shut by confining him in the prison. Nevertheless, as things might appear to the end for Andy, he was found missing in the cell one day. The plots thicken as a hole was suddenly found in his cell covered by a poster. It was revealed that Andy managed to use a rock hammer he obtained from Red to dig a hole to the exit tunnel during his last 2 decade in prison. He crawled 500 yard through shit to reach his long waited freedom. At the same time, he managed smuggled the evidence of the warden’s money laundering which was hidden in the bible by switching with his Bible. The warden committed suicide at the end to prevent capture from the police. Off you go pathetic idiot !!

Andy managed to nail himself to a live he wanted in an island in Pacific. With his wit, he outplayed and outsmart the warden and his guard. He never give up when the warden killed the only person who can prove him innocent, instead he formulated a plan of escape in his arduous prison life while pretending to help the warden. He waited a perfect chance to escape once he has everything he needed. 

Red who spent 40 years in prison joined Andy after receiving parole. Here is the dialogue:

Board member: Do you feel you’ve been rehabilitated?

Red: Rehabilitated? Well now, let me see. You know, I don’t have any idea what that means.

Board member: Well, it means that you’re ready to rejoin society…

Red: I know what you think it means, sonny. To me it’s just a made up word. Politicians word, so young fellows like yourself can wear a suit and a tie and have a job. What do you really want to know. Am I sorry for what I did?

Board member: Well, are you?

Red: There’s not a day goes by that I don’t feel regret. Not because I’m in here and because you think I should. I look back on the way I was then, a young, stupid kid who committed that terrible crime. I want to talk to him. Try and talk some sense into him. Tell him the way things are. But I can’t. That kid’s long gone, and this old man is all that is left. I gotta live with that. Rehabilitated? That’s just a bullshit word. So you go on and stamp your form, sonny, and stop wasting my time. ‘Cause, to tell you the truth, I don’t give a shit.

With that said, we ought to judge everything based on all perspective although it is hard to do that. Things have many variations and by observing and analyzing meticulously, we can act in our own way to achieve a life that we wanted as long we do not betray our own conscience.

I happen to come across an article called “Sarawak” in Wikipedia. It was mentioned Sarawak was given independence at 22 July 1963. It was freaking disappointing to see this fact never even appear in our History textbook ! I certainly did not know this fact because I was brainwashed in my school time. I bet most Sarawakian doesn’t even know this too!  It was obviously overshadowed by the 31 August 1957. Bearing in mind, Sarawak joined Malaya in 16 September1963 to form Malaysia. This pivotal date wasn’t recognised until few years ago when that day became Malaysia Day. WTF !!! Even so, to celebrate 31 August 1957 for the independence of Malaysia is a disgrace because Malaysia was not formed that time. It’s the Malaya !! For god’s sake, 22 July 1963 was ignored and16 September 1963 was disregarded for few decades. WTH is our Ministry of Education doing....or...sleeping perhaps....

Testimony (LIFE): High Hopes and Broken Dream

The final of Geography turns out to be a failure:

·         Delayed for 1 hour

·         Malfunction of projector

·         Assorted types of questions for finals, without any distinct level in difficulties. There are many types of history type questions in the top 4, top 3 rounds and a map question in a final ?? I thought the level of difficulties are supposed to start from the easiest which is map and in to a detail and distinct landmarks, capital, history and background of a country.

·         Same hamper are given to 2^nd, 3^rd, 4^th, 5^th place….tsk tsk….

·         It’s all about luck, not geography since random question are given according to the group number. If you get a difficult question like what happened my team..”Which is the exact year of Belgium’s revolution”…. It’s game over because 1 question can cost you an exit in the competition.

Testimony (LIFE): Geography-Uiz Pathway

Geography is my favourite pastime subjects. Reading maps is not many peoples’ interest considering you have to study stuff outside your textbook. Malaysian Education has changed Malaysian into “study what you learn in textbook” scenario. So, it is definitely arduous to study things by your own, but most importantly, as you have an inner drive to do what you like, I believe there are much more to achieve in that field of interest.

I came into this competition with a last minute, after forming a group, few days before the competition. It has been a while since I meet an equally par geography master – Moctar Abdellahi Bebaha ! Well, according to him, Malaysians are weak in geography. Well, he’s right. The education ministry insinuates only geography about Malaysia in the textbook. That’s why Malaysians who adores countries like France, Spain, etc, doesn’t even know where those countries are.  

I am grateful that until now, I have the inner drive to study the things I like, regardless it’s a trash in PMR, SPM or the things people look down upon. Because I know one day my skills can be put into good use and recognized by people who share the same interest as me.

Moctar and I had a duel on geography. While I shot arrow at him, he fought back with bullets. We're equally good. Nevertheless, I prove him wrong that people from Sarawak can't be good in geography !! Haha…take that my friend ! with Hussam, from Sudan, a debater and a friend of mine. We form Vasco de Gama J !!!!

We take on Geography-Uiz quiz at July 16, 8pm. With so many teams and some seems so strong, I was intimidated for a moment. Before the competition, I had a brief duel in geography with Hussam before the competition started. Out of 32 teams, we broke as 7^th in the first round (top 20 is going to semi finals).  It’s not bad but we have to do better since the top 5 are going to finals. In the semi finals, I vouched to perform better. It’s was a tense moment but I have 100% certainty of the answer I have. The landmarks like Macchu Picchu, Volga River, etc. The rabbit disease in Australia was a piece of cake. When the results were going to be announced, my heart was pounding so heart. I’ve never experienced that before in my life. That kind of adrenalin was too much for me to handle. Even before when I’m receiving my results or obtaining scholarship, I’ve never experience that level of apprehensiveness. When the MC says the first team to break into the finals, I heard VASCO DE GAMA. I was thrilled, we jumped up at were overjoyed. We’ve never expect to hear that. I was so grateful that I made it. After years of hard work and I finally get a recognition. Entering finals itself is a pride for me. Winning is another issue. I felt grateful that I’ve found such great teammates, my mum dad and sis and thanks to my friends Kelvin, Daphne, Charles, San san, Kevin and etc who given me support ^^      

Finally, the final on Sunday night, I hope we can do our best and make it a night we’ll never forget !!!

When reading his Year Two Science exam paper, it is baffling how a question — prepared by a Science teacher, checked by the Science panel, and verified by the school’s senior assistant — could still read as follows:

Study the pictures (animal pictures). Fill in the blanks.

A. A bird can...

B. A monkey can...

C. A snake can...

D. A frog can...

The answers that were given: jumping, gliding, climbing and fliying.

Yes, fliying.

As if the grammar mistake isn’t bad enough, they had to have a spelling mistake as well. Three teachers involved, and “a monkey can climbing”?

Another question features a picture of nine different foods, namely fish, a slice of meat, a papaya, a glass of milk, a slice of watermelon, some cabbage, a bowl of rice, some noodles and a slice of bread.

The question asks the students to group the foods into three categories, namely foods that “help us grow”, “help us stay healthy”, and “gives us energy”.

Honestly, all the foods listed above fit into all three categories, albeit to varying degrees. I am not satisfied with this question — it’s not specific or clear cut.

On another question, there was a picture of a cat eating a fish. Pupils had to complete the sentence “A cat eats...” with the following choices:

A. fish

B. fish and rice

My brother answered fish, and was marked wrong.

Yes, some pet cats would eat rice provided the fish is there, but generally a cat would choose “A” over “B”. And there was not a single grain of rice in the picture.

Who is willing to Raise Your Glass for those nerds, geeks, underdogs and all those the ‘uncool people’ in the society? Who is willing to speak on behalf of them, voicing out what they felt when people treat them like dick shit ! P!nk is the artist who is willing to do it !

Debuting as the lead single for her Greatest Hit… So Far!!!! album, Raise your Glass aims to promote social, gender, sexual orientation and animals rights. According to Pink, the song is dedicated to those who felt they were not a part of the popular crowd. She speaks out for those who are neglected and despised by people beside them. I personally felt that this is a rousing and uplifting song as her songs resemble her perception towards the modern life issues and she stands firm to what she believes in like her previous song – Dear Mr. President, which shares the same concept as Raise your Glass.

The music video brings a deep meaning to what she wishes to convey. First, on animals rights. She introduces a human farm, which is rather awkward. A cow is portrayed drinking milk extracted from a few females which emphasise the need of animals to receive equal important treatment on some basic necessities. The black clothes people are actually the representative from the Animal Liberation Front, an active international underground group which aims to save and liberate animals from abuse and atrocities committed by humans. She is even shown punishing a matador to free the cow from the captivity.

On the GLBT rights, she was shown performing on stage in a gay marriage and P!nk expressing her views that people should not feel any differently towards gay marriage than straight marriage. In fact, people are strongly bonded by the mindset from religious teaching that they taunt, bully, loathe and abominate those GLBT, treating them like dangerous aliens. GLBT are also normal human being and they do not deserve this kind of treatment. They’re a lot of GLBT who did a lot contribution to the community, most notably Clay Aiken, the ambassador if UNICEF.

It depicts how dreadful people can be when they are comfortable and engrossing themselves in happiness and luxury, they don’t even care anything happens around them. Those people in comfort zone wearing in luxurious suits ties and appealing dress don’t even care for a lonely nerd like P!nk. However, she manages to find herself a nerd partner too and they enjoy themselves with freaking hilarious dances to entertain themselves. In the lyrics, she said

It symbolizes the power of women during the time in the World War 2, when women took the jobs in the factories and plants to replace the men in the war. Throughout the video, some scenes of woman performing acrobatics on stages and a woman graduate from universities are shown to promote gender equality that woman can be successful in their own ways.

Soaring The Eagle is a COMPULSORY for ALL Petronas Scholars !!!! Argh…. Why am I denied the chance of going back home. Miss my hometown, family and the food…a lot !! TREMENDOUSLY !!!! My chance to fly back to Sarawak was halted that moment.

Hotel Food

The Hotel Casa Rachardo has the best food compared to any UTP’s café food. Of course, it’s hotel food. With spaghetti, mushroom food, fried rice and other scrumptious food available, people often rush to the café ASAP once the class ended. I was eating ravenously the first few days. I took and appreciated every chance I have with delicious food. It’s kinda sad because those delicious food can fill my stomach for one week only… L… Nevertheless, I was fortunate and satisfied with it XD

Hostel

It’s been 3 months since I slept in an air conditioned room. The room is SPECTACULAR, ASTOUNDING, and ABSOLUTELY PERFECT… (too bad… I didn’t have the picture). Clean bathroom and toilet, comfy bed, with THREE PILLOWS all belong to me since Seng only took one !!! wahaha… Too bad the air cond broke down the 2^nd day. Haiz… Nevertheless, there was ANOTHER air cond in the living room. Seng and I slept there for the rest of the days ! 

Activities

My group: Mach 5

STE held interesting games to motivate the participants to excel in different aspects Namely, Mind, Relationship, Academic, Finance, Body and Spiritual. It gives inspiration and lesson learnt after each game to help us become a better person physically and mentally. The most touching scene shown during the spiritual themed activities is a movie called Simon Birch. A disabled boy who was looked down by everyone but he still holds firm his belief towards God.

Overall, STE is one of the best camp I’ve attended before and if given a chance again, I want to experience that again !!

Testimony (ENTERTAINMENT): Kung Fu Panda 2

Kung Fu Panda 2 is a freaking hilarious movie favourable by people from all walks of life. My friends (Kelvin, Wind and Daphne) and i watched this movie knowing that we would blow ourselves up by the amusing and goofy Po, the PANDA !

Returning for another comical and exciting adventure, Po and the Furious 5 face a new threat in a new city and concurrently discovering his past. This astounding part of the movie is that the action pack, kung fu fighting starts immediately and ends with an emotional touching scene when Po hugs his dad, Mr. Ping, the goose. What amazed and amuse me is Po’s wide arrays of kung fu techniques combining with his clumsy footwork !!

The movie works on both parts, entertaining people with the boisterously Po and teaching the viewers the importance of accepting the present and loving your parents. It has an amazing story plot and a well done film by the Dreamworks animation studio !!

KUNG FU PANDA 2 is an indeed recommended film to be watched ! It is hinted that there might be a 3^rd film...so we’ll see...XD

Testimony 1 (LIFE): Success

We all have goals and dreams. When we achieve that, we call it SUCCESS. A man who can’t even read CAN BE A BILLIONAIRE !! Woohh.... !!!!! People have their own special ability.  Mr. Andreas may not be the study type but he is the persevere type. As stated, he desperately try to prove to everyone else that he is SomeBody.. He is not a failure despite being weak in studies.

His success is measured by hard work and perseverance. It requires strenuous effort, countless of setbacks and a hell lots of determination to reach that level. No one will ever know the hardship that he went through. I’ve been studying for 13 years and that i’ve to admit that reaching this state is not easy alone. Who will understand that?... NO one but me...

Henceforth, to everyone who fails during the course of reaching success, bear in mind that there is always another way out, a path which you’re good at it which you will undertake in future. Be strong and with determination you will keep moving forward.

Testimony 1 (LIFE): Introduction to Life

Time Of My Life

 

Life is all about your experience on Earth for a few years. Money and success are just lending you a few years of fame and joy. Yes, people all know that, but there is always a denial that, without money you cannot survive. Nevertheless, bear in mind that in the endeavour of pursuing any aspiration, you have to have control over yourself and don’t let it blind your eyesight over something more important – own conscious.    

            Life is complicated but as long you live the way you want it to be, you’ll have no regrets. However, there are many ways you can lead your life, for me, I have a strong hold on certain principles which I would not deviate while walking through this life. This may sound easy and the right thing to do but in actual fact this is the hardest barrier in my life in terms of practising those values in my daily life. There are people who knew that jealousy is a bad attitude but at times when he/she is tested at ardous situations, that evil seed will sprout in his heart and propel that person to commit a sin and harbour his satisfaction. It is not easy to be a good man but it is easy to turn bad. The reason is say so can be shown by this example. What happen when you throw a piece of paper to a baby, of course, he/she will squash it to smithereens. That's the nature of human being.

Life in the university, I’m subjected to different people from all walks of lives. Being susceptible to undesirable attitude, I know that I have to stand firm to my principle and be a successful person in LIFE!

Carbonate Platforms

Remember when we were young, we used to visit exotic islands to have a holiday, having a whale of time on the pristine beach with our friends or family, little that we know that most of the beaches and islands are actually carbonate islands. One of the most astounding examples of carbonate platform is the Bahamas Island and platform on the Great Barrier Reef. So, what is so special about these islands?

These carbonate Island or carbonate platform in scientific term, is unlike a gigantic land that is created from volcanic eruption or decreasing or sea water level to from a piece of land. It is just actually a sedimentary body which possesses topographic relief, and is composed of various sea plants and dead organism (microbes) which induce carbonate precipitation through their metabolism that deposits for a long time. Nevertheless, factors such as existence of life reef building organism, light and water temperature can affect the formation of these islands.

Carbonate platform is proven to be highly effective in storing and retaining vast quantities of gases and liquids for a long time, which explains why it is a perfect place to store carbon dioxide, CO₂ . These gases are compressed and injected underground. At these depths, carbon dioxide behaves as supercritical, sharing densities similar to those liquids and viscosity similar to gases. It moves through pore spaces as though it were a gas and takes in less space, as though it were a liquid. The deeper it goes, the denser it becomes and also less space is requires. Henceforth, it is potentially effective in storing huge amount of gases.  The geological distribution of rocks forms a trap by holding these gases under a layer of impermeable cap rock combine with narrow anticlinal folds of formation.

Carbonate platform’s characteristic also is put in good use in storing liquids minerals. Half or more of the world's petroleum is stored in carbonate reservoir rocks. This is due to the suitable porosity and relative permeability. The feature of sucrose dolomite porosity is important in many oil reservoirs. In these rocks, porosity and permeability have been strongly influenced by composition of carbonate sediment and the rock has been replaced by calcite of sucrose dolomite over a period of erosion and deep water pressurised. Dolomite calcite which happens to be a natural host rock, is a sedimentary mineral carbonate rocks which is capable of storing minerals, in this case oil due to its ordered structure. Cutting edge technology even allows injection of mercury or CO₂ into the cores of the reservoir to increase the pressure to guide the oil to the surface. The method can only be applied when the volume of the mercury or CO₂ can cause enough pressure and force to displace oil from water and overcome its interfacial tension between the rocks in the pores. This method is very favourable in the United States as 50 million metric tonnes of CO₂ are injected annually in the United States into declining oil fields.

As a whole, there is strong incentive to interpret carbonate platform and its ancient carbonate environments with organism communities. Hence, it is imperative for us, human beings to understand their prudent contribution in the storage of increasing amount of carbon dioxide and also its effects on oil-reservoir properties.
